The Takamine GD74CE-12U 12-String Guitar is a purpose-built instrument designed specifically to handle the intense demands of regional Mexican music and beyond.
While many players traditionally string 12-string guitars with two sets of six strings for a unique unison sound, this often puts excessive stress on standard models. Therefore, Takamine engineered the “U” series to withstand this specific stringing style without compromising structural integrity. This model offers a robust solution for musicians who need a reliable, high-performance guitar that can manage heavier string loads while delivering a professional-grade experience on every stage.
Superior Construction and Structural Rigidity
To ensure long-lasting durability, the GD74CE-12U features a reinforced spruce top equipped with double-X bracing. Consequently, this specialized internal architecture allows the guitar to handle the additional tension of unison strings while projecting a sound that remains clear and sweet.
The body is crafted from flame maple, which works in harmony with a maple neck to provide exceptional structural rigidity. Because of these premium materials, the guitar produces a voice that is simultaneously growly, brash, and melodic. You can feel the quality in every chord, as the build quality supports both aggressive strumming and intricate lead work.
